David was born in Seattle, and moved to California at age 19 to attend Cal Arts, where he studied classical, jazz and modern piano. It was here that he and Bobby O first met. After his stint at Cal Arts he played with the well-known jazz/fusion group Ambrosia and in 1989, he won a Grammy for “Best New Age Performance”. He was also a member of Shadowfax, where he was a major writing collaborator. He also played and recorded with musical luminaries like: Edgar Winter, Billy Preston, Al Stewart, Stephen Bishop, Gary Wright, Terry Sylvester (The Hollies), John Ford Coley, The Doobie Brothers, Michael Hedges and others.
